pinterest idea

I found the cutest idea on Pinterest, http://dittledattle.blogspot.com/2010/04/family-wall.html and decided to make different holidays and seasons, using photoshop elements and my digital scrapbooking paper and fonts.  The treats one, for Halloween, I got off that blog above as a free download, but the other ones I made.

Valentine's Day

I got to babysit my sister's kids for a while yesterday  Here is a picture of mine and my sister's kids.

Madeline and her valentine box

Ethan and his valentine folder

I got to volunteer at the kids classes yesterday.  It is fun to volunteer!  For Madeline's class, they made roses out of hershey's kisses and played bingo and made valentine butterflys out of suckers and played a hearts game.  For Ethan's party, he had a treasure hunt and there were also games - sucked candy hearts with a straw and put them in a cup and the person with the most candy hearts in one minute wins and estimation jars.

I am loving pinterest with all the ideas that they have for crafts!

Valentine cards

Here are the valentines we are doing for Madeline and Ethan for their school classes.

Ethan's 8th birthday party

Ethan's birthday party with friends was yesterday.  He had two sets of cousins come too.  It was fun!
It was a little chaotic with all the kids.  We invited 14 kids all together including the birthday boy.
We painted a treasure box, practiced knocking over cans with a whip, practiced with a blow dart gun,
made paper airplanes, popped balloons to find the antidote, crawled through the snake pit and
found the treasure box.  Finished it off with cake and ice cream and presents.  I am glad there
were so many adults there to help.  I couldn't have done it by myself!
Here are the kids in line for the blow dart gun game.  Love how they look with the Indiana Jones hats!

Getting ready for Ethan's party

Ethan's birthday invitation

Balloons I got for Ethan

Satchels that I made from felt and rope and some tags I found at this site:  http://blackberryvine.blogspot.com/2011/06/indiana-jones-party-satchels.html

The cake I made

We will start the party out by painting treasure boxes for each kid

Then we will read this letter to the kids, which I got from this blog:  http://jvdchristensen.blogspot.com/2011/11/indiana-jones-party.html
I found a lot of my ideas from this site.  It was great!

I made this passport to adventure for all the kids to get a stamp for each adventure we complete at the party

We get to open a new clue after each adventure

The first activity is knocking over the bad guys with a whip

2nd activity is using a blow dart gun

The blow darts will stick to the target - I added some velcro to them and used felt for the target

For the 3rd activity, we will make paper airplanes and try to land them on this picture

4th activity we will rest and get a drink, but we have been poisoned so for the 5th activity, we will have to pop the balloons to find the antidote

The clues to where the antidote is are in the balloons

6th activity, the kids will have to crawl through the snake pit

After the snake pit, we will open up the clues that will lead to the treasure

I found a printable that let me transform a box into a treasure box which I put candy in.  Site was:

Since Ethan LOVES chocolate, I found this ice cream for his party.
Thought it fit - Out of this world chocolate
