Utah State Fair

Last night on the spur of the moment, we decided to go to the Utah State Fair. First, Jared took the kids to the fishing pond to fish and both Madeline and Ethan were able to catch 2 fish each and then throw them back.

Next, we went to the Chuck a Rama Family Fun Contest and Madeline and I signed up to do the whipped cream word dive. Madeline was first in the category age 5-7, and she got all into it and stuck her arms in up to her elbows in the whipped cream. Madeline had to dig through whipped cream to find the letters for the word "fair." She won 3rd place and got a ribbon. I participated in the 17 and older category, but didn't win a ribbon. I dug through that whipped cream, but couldn't find the letters for the word "peanut." I only could find 3 letters in that word. Both Madeline and I got certificates to Chuck a Rama for free meals. 5 free meals total :) Madeline has such a cool souvenir from the fair for that night - if you read the ribbon, it says: Chuck A Rama Whipped Cream Word Dive. Utah State Fair 2008. Fun story to tell people about.

After that, we went to the Little Hands on the Farm for Madeline and Ethan. They got to pretend to feed a cow and then milk the cow with a lifelike udder and milky liquid and plant seeds in a garden and other fun stuff and then at the end were able to buy something with their money they earned working on the farm. They both chose milk - Madeline chose vanilla milk and Ethan chose rootbeer milk.

At 7:30, we watched a crowded Tiger show, and then went to see the animals. We left the fair and went to Leatherby's for ice cream. The kids got to bed late, but it was worth it. It was a fun filled evening! Madeline was so proud to wear the ribbon she won and she said that she wanted to bring it to show and tell at school.
