Oct. 18 Today we rushed to the temple in Laie and made it just in time for the 10:00 session.
Afterwards, we spent the day at the Polynesian Cultural Center.

Thanks for sharing your trip to Hawaii. It brings back memories of my few trips. In l985(when my oldest son graduated from high school), we took him and his younger brother to Hawaii. I should have stayed home and let his youngest brother go, because Dallas, Greg, & Todd spent the week playing golf and surfing. We all went to the Polynesian Cultural Center, and we had meals together; but I spent most of the weeks alone.
I went to the Hawaii Temple and did a little shopping for souvenirs. I don't remember seeing a Wal-Mart, but I'm sure their prices for souvenirs would be a lot lower than other stores.
The last day we were there, we went to a beach they heard about that had big waves. I remember that Dallas had the keys to the rental car in the pocket of his swim suit, and they fell out while he was out in the ocean. We had to pay $50 for someone from the rental company to drive out there and give us another key to the car.
Our return flight was scheduled at 11:00 p.m. but it was delayed a least an hour so we left Honolulu in the middle of the night. Then, when we were almost half way to L.A., something went wrong and we had to return to Hawaii. It was a 5-hour flight, so we arrived in L.A. about 6:00 a.m. Then we had to drive 4 hours to get home. We were so tired that we felt like we needed another vacation.
I can imagine how you felt when you heard that Ethan needed stitches, and you were so far away. My son Todd had to have stitches several times when he was growing up because he tried a lot of daring things. I hope, for your sake, that Ethan won't take chances like Todd did; but it seems like there is one kid in every family who gets hurt a lot.
I'm glad you enjoyed your trip. Thanks again for sharing your blog. Carol
