We flew to Denver for a layover and from Denver to Honolulu, which was a 7 hour flight. Glad we were without kids for that long flight. My parents were watching Madeline and Ethan. When we landed, we had to ride the Wiki Wiki bus to get our luggage and picked up our rental car. We actually went to a McDonalds in Hawaii and to my surprise, they had a dollar menu. Not too exciting, but we were starving after the flight and that was the first thing we saw. They also had an interesting item called Taro pie and we tried it. It was pretty good. We stayed at J & B's Haven Bed and Breakfast in Hawaii Kai and we would recommend it to anyone going to Hawaii. Their website is: http://home.hawaii.rr.com/jnbshaven/ . That first night, I got a call from my mom saying that Ethan needed stitches and they were at the hospital. Not a good thing to hear the first night away from your kids. He needed 9 stitches. 6 just beneath his bottom lip and 3 on the inside. I fell asleep worried for him. I told him to be brave and the next day, my mom said he was the bravest kid - he didn't cry even though he had tons of shots to numb him and had more stitches than they originally thought.
Here are pictures of the bed and breakfast room we stayed at:
We fell asleep with cool breezes and woke up and had a wonderful spread for breakfast - pineapple and papaya and nuts and cereals, cheese, yogurt, toast. One of the days they had hash browns and eggs and sausage. It was so nice being waited on and having like a second honeymoon. I owe my parents big time for watching the kids for a week!
